How can pop-arrangements be created that are fun and easy to sing – and sound great at the same time? The Nordic pop choir arrangement style focusses on the lyrics and choir parts, which are based on the sounds of the voice itself. It differs from other pop choir and contemporary a cappella choir traditions, which often imitate instruments and use ostinatos. Tine Fris-Ronsfeld and Kristoffer Fynbo Thorning from the Danish vocal ensemble Postyr will look at a selection of Nordic pop arrangement examples and explore different methods, ’rules’ and arrangement techniques within modern vocal music. The workshop will feature a lecture part as well as practical exercises.
